Short-haired Somalis (formerly known as Somali Variants) have been in Somali pedigrees since initial recognition of the breed. They are a result of ou-tcrossing Somalis with Abyssinians. Responsible Somali breeders have followed this breeding plan for many years to maintain a healthy gene pool for the benefit of our breed.
Shorthairs were recognised at Preliminary Status by GCCF in 2012 and have enjoyed considerable success on the showbench. The Somali BAC aims for championship status to be secured by the end of 2014.
