Somali
Handling: A Somali should be approached gently and quietly; if shy, avoid direct eye contact as cats regard that as confrontational. Lift out of the pen carefully and stand the Somali on the trolley. Keep the trolley close to the open pen door with the cat facing towards the opening. Somalis are friendly and affectionate but do not like strangers talking loudly and using extravagant hand gestures. |

Somalis come in a variety of colours so the Somali BAC recommends all interested parties to visit www.somalibac.co.uk to find out a great deal of information regarding type, colour and ticking. SHORT-HAIRED SOMALI
Shorthairs were recognised as a distinct breed by GCCF in 2012. Short-haired Somalis (formerly known as Somali Variants) have been in Somali pedigrees since initial recognition of the breed. They are a result of outcrossing Somalis with Abyssinians. Responsible Somali breeders have followed this breeding plan for many years to maintain a healthy gene pool for the benefit of our breed. |
